Kirsten Simpson looks forward to the GB under 20's camp

This year we are delighted to have two players selected to attend the GB Under 20's Women's camp at the University of Essex. As well as Hannah Peacock, Kirsten Simpson is delighted to have her first opportunity to show what she can do on the big stage. Kirsten is a long time Club player having first started playing at camps during the school holidays, she signed up for Kats at the age of 10, as well as playing at Towerbank Primary. It wasn't long before she got the chance to pull on the Scotland jersey as she was selected for Scotland Under 15 a year early. She has played for Scotland at every age group including two stints at the European Championships. She gained her first senior caps in Luxembourg this year.

As Kirsten explains she was actually considered for the GB U20s camp last season as well "When I played for Scotland U18s, our coach put forward names to GB basketball who he felt should be considered. I was one along with four of my team mates. GB basketball then choose the candidates for camp looking at stats, games they have seen and and feedback from basketballscotland throughout the year. Unfortunately I didn't make it in last year but I asked for feedback on areas I needed to work on. Ever since I have been working hard on my game and playing against guys to improve. I was overjoyed when I got the e-mail this year to say I was being considered and can't wait to go to camp."

We wish Kirsten and Hannah the very best of luck at camp which starts on 24th June. Go Kats!
