Scottish Cup Semi Finals Weekend

This weekend sees five of our club's teams bidding to make the finals of the 2012 Scottish Cup, due to take place on February 4th and 5th next year. This is a big weekend for the club so please come along and lend your support to make sure we reach those finals!

Friday 16th December

The game of the weekend sees our Senior Men's team renewing the biggest rivalry in Scottish Basketball when they match up to Falkirk Fury on Friday at Portobello. With both teams currently locked on 19 points at the top of the National League table it's sure to be a close game. Having been defeated by the Kings earlier in the season, Fury will be out for revenge - don't miss this game it's bound to be a cracker!

Prior to this game, to celebrate the end of term, we are holding a fun tournament for our u12s and u14s. Each team will be a mixture of boys and girls of u12s and u14s and each will have their own guest coach. The tournament will finish at 7.30pm and then the players will be guests of honour at the Scottish Cup semi-final game.

There will be a half time free throw competition during the game as well as a draw for the 200 Club. All parents are welcome to come and watch the game and cheer on the Senior Men to Cup glory. All u12 and u14 players should be picked up at 9.45pm from the main hall at Portobello. In order to help us plan the session, can you please email Clare Mackle to let us know if you are able to come along.

Please note that there will be no U12 session at Holy Rood on this date.

Meanwhile, at Wester Hailes the U16 Women play Polonia Phoenix, whom they have already beaten 46 - 33 at home this season, so good luck to the girls.

Saturday 17th December

Our U16 Mens team are favourites to maintain their 100% record this season when they take on Falkirk Fury at 11:00 on Saturday at Portobello. We are also holding a second 200 Club draw at half-time, so you have double the chance of winning this weekend!

The Senior Women are also scheduled to meet Falkirk Fury at the Mariner Centre on Saturday, where they should progress to the finals having already beaten Fury twice this season.

Sunday 18th December

Lastly, the Junior Womens team travel to Wester Hailes Education Centre on Sunday to play Polonia Phoenix.

It should be a close one if the first league encounter is anything to go by. The Junior Women beat Polonia by a point, scoring the last basket of the game, earlier in the season.

We are keen to repeat the performance this weekend, to be at the Finals in February, but it needs all the girls to be up for it.

Good luck to the all the teams and lets see if we can make it five out of five for the finals!
