Season 2015/16 - opening games

Its nearly here! The National League season 2015/16 is almost upon us and we are in great shape to kick off the season in style. With 11 National League teams hitting the floor in City of Edinburgh colours we offer more playing opportunities than any other Club in Scotland. We are indebted to our brilliant Fixtures Secretary Brian Findlay who always gets a few more grey hairs at this time of year as he attempts to schedule all the fixtures! Basketballscotland have launched a new fixtures and results website that can be found by clicking here. It doesn't look as if its complete yet (all Clubs enter their own home fixtures) so keep checking back. Just to get you started with all your diary updating here are the first fixtures.

U10s

The Under 10s will play in the East and Central Regional Development League and will have their first set of games on 29th November.

Under 12s

The U12 Academy teams will play in the East and Central Regional Development League and will have their first set of fixtures on 25th October. The U12 Cluster Clubs will have their first Friday night Cluster League games on 30th October.

Under 14 boys

The Under 14 boys will play in the East and Central Regional Development League (RDL). This year the league is split into a competition league and a development league. We have entered a team in each of these leagues. The team entered in the competition league will also play in the Cadet Men National League Division 3 and in the U14 Scottish Cup. The first fixtures are:

  • RDL 27th September
  • Scottish Cup - not announced yet
  • NL D3 12th September against Boroughmuir Blaze at Bathgate Academy with a 1:30pm tip off.

Under 14 girls

The Under 14 girls will play in the RDL and the Scottish Cup. The Scottish Cup is yet to be scheduled but the first RDL fixtures are 27th September.

Cadet Men

The Cadet Men will play in National League Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 and the Scottish Cup. The first fixtures are:

  • NL D1 12th September against Boroughmuir Blaze at the Crags with a 11am tip off. POSTPONED

  • NL D1 19th September against Falkirk Fury at Portobello with a 11am tip off.
  • Scottish Cup - had a home game against Highland Bears but this has been conceded so through to the next round which will be in November against the winners of Polonia against South Lanarkshire Colliers.

Junior Men

The Junior Men will play in National League Division 1 and Division 2 and the Scottish Cup.

  • NL D1 12th September against Boroughmuir Blaze at the Crags with a 3pm tip off. POSTPONED
  • NL D2 13th September against West Lothian Wolves at Bathgate Academy with a 12noon tip off
  • Scottish Cup - a home game against Boroughmuir Blaze, still to be scheduled.

Junior Women

The Junior Women will play in the National League and the Scottish Cup.

  • Scottish Cup - a home game against Highland Bears, still to be scheduled.

Senior Men

The Senior Men will play in National League Division 1 and Division 2 and the Scottish Cup. There will be no team entered in the Lothian League as it was felt that due to the increasing restrictions placed by the league on eligibility it no longer offered an appropriate playing outlet for us on the men's side. So the Division 2 league will now take the place of the Lothian League.

  • NL D1 19th September against Falkirk Fury at Portobello with a 7pm tip off.
  • NL D2 13th September against Granite City Grizzlies at Holy Rood with a 1pm tip off.
  • Scottish Cup 18th October against St Mirren at Portobello with a 12:20pm tip off.

Senior Women

The Senior Women will play in the National League, Lothian League, Scottish Cup and Chairman's Cup.

  • Lothian League 21st September against Comets at Portobello with a 7pm tip off.
  • Scottish Cup 17th October against Granite City Grizzlies at Portobello with a 12:20pm tip off
