Club launches new age group

Saturday 1st June saw the start of a new chapter in City of Edinburgh's history as for the first time ever we reduced the age levels to include Primary 1 to Primary 3 children.

With the help of a grant from City of Edinburgh Council's Activcity programme we were able to buy some new basketball stands and balls especially for this age group.

As the photos show the day was a big success with over 70 kids taking part and this combined with the school visit to St Ninian's to work with this age group saw nearly 200 children exposed to basketball, most for the first time.

As a follow up to the Launch day we are running three further introductory sessions on 9th, 16th and 23rd June, we were delighted that nearly 70 children arrived for the first session, all eager to get started playing basketball.

The new age group will be known as MiniHoops and will start after the summer holidays. It will run on the same lines as Sunday Hoops in a 10 week block. We hope that for a lot of these children it will be the start of a long relationship with the Club.
