Weekend Preview 14th, 15th and 16th February

Its a busy weekend at Portobello with games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

First up on Friday night are the Junior Women who face the newly crowned Scottish Cup winners St Mirren at 8pm. St Mirren were brought down to earth with a bump in last week's league game with a 20 point defeat by Tayside. Kats have won the previous two league games against St Mirren but only by an 8 point margin so it should be an exciting game. Kats will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the league and leave themselves needing just one more victory to put the league beyond doubt.

On Saturday its the men's teams who are at Portobello against Troon. Cadet Men are the first game at 11am and will be without Jamie Campbell who had to have another operation on his arm. We wish Jamie a speedy recovery. They are also without Adam Stobbart, Alexander Ferguson and Daniel Haquin all due to holidays, surely an argument for not scheduling games during the school holidays. Kings inflicted a 19 point defeat on Troon when they met early in the season but both teams have got stronger since then and will both be keen to improve their league position for the play offs.

The Junior Men are on at 1pm and the last time they met Troon in the league it was a much closer affair than the Cadets with Kings winning by 4 points. With Troon and Kings amongst the 6 teams all in contention for the 3rd spot, this will be a crucial game for both.

The Senior Men will be on at 3pm and will be glad to see the return of Garreth Lodge, Matt Kruczynski and Mike Murray. Kings will be looking to keep the pressure on second placed St Mirren and hope that the Paisley team trip up on one of their remaining fixtures. Last meeting with Troon saw Kings get a 19 point win so fingers crossed they can repeat that score!

Away from home on Saturday, the Cadette Women have two Division 2 games at Grangemouth. They will be without Chloe Duffy who is out for the rest of the season after a foot operation, get well soon Chloe! The Kats will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten form in this division and in the second game will face the only other unbeaten team in the league in St Mirren.

On Sunday's its the ladies turn at Portobello with the Senior Women facing St Mirren at 12noon and the Cadette Women facing Highland Bears at 2pm. The Senior Women will be without Sarah O'Brien due to teaching committments and will be hoping for a replay of the first time the teams met in the league where Kats ran out easy winners rather than the second where it was a 1 point victory!

The Cadette Women will be without Rosanna Pollock due to holidays for the next 2 Division 1 fixtures and will be hoping to move up the table for the play off positions. The last meeting was a 1 point loss for the Kats so lets hope for a reversal!

The Junior Men Divison 2 champions will travel to Arbroath to play Tayside Musketeers at 12:20, where they will be hoping to celebrate their league title with another win after a comprehensive victory last time they met in January.
