Junior Women - only winners against Rocks

The Junior Women team scored a good 69 - 50 win against Rocks at Portobello on Sunday.

Sandwiched between a loss for the Cadette Women and an overtime defeat for the Senior Women (2nd overtime loss on the bounce for the SW against Rocks), the Junior Women reinforced their 2nd spot in the league with this result.

After a good start, the girls were never troubled against an aggressive, hard working Rocks outfit. After allowing Rocks 6 3-pointers in the first half, the girls shut that down to none in the 2nd.

The whole bench played, with 1st year Juniors now making valuable contributions to the team performance. It has taken some time to make the jump to Junior, but at last the girls are feeling more comfortable.

Some good fast breaking basketball saw the girls win every quarter. Hannah led all scorers with 21 points but sat on the bench for the final quarter of the game. Kirsten put in 15 and Rowan hit 12. Points from Kirsty, Ciara, Geraldine, Shannon, Nicole and Kathleen and good performances from Elspeth and Lauren, showed that it was a great team effort.

With 3 league games left the team are keen to finish the season on a high with 2 games against Fury and 1 against Polonia still to play.

Well done girls.
