The U16 Men's team maintained their fantastic unbeaten record in the League and Cup with a comfortable 57 - 38 win over Boroughmuir Blaze on Saturday at Portobello. Leading the way was Gregor Gray with a top score of 20 points. The boys were presented with the league trophy after the game. Thanks to Kevin Pringle, Chief Executive of basketballscotland, for making the presentations. The only blemish on the day was an ankle injury to Sam - we wish him a speedy recovery.
Both the Senior Men and Junior Men also prevailed against Blaze, winning tough games by 75 - 62 and 63 - 52 respectively. In the Senior game Lee, who was also forced to leave the game early with an ankle injury, was top scorer with 19. That result sees the Seniors still a point clear at the top of the league with only two games to play. The Juniors however have now completed their league campaign in third place.
The Junior Women and Cadette Women were also successful in their games against Glasgow Rocks. The Cadettes recorded an excellent 52 - 37 result with Shannon top-scoring with 20 followed by Rowan on 14.
The Junior Women also won convincingly 82 - 62, as Coach Findlay reports:
Junior Women crush Rocks in solid 2nd half display.
The Junior Women team hit 52 points in a crushing 2nd half performance against Glasgow Rocks on Sat 25 Feb.
With 4 players in double figures and points from the whole bench, the girls ran out 82 - 62 winners.
Hannah with 23, Nicole with 16 led the Kats with Kirsty on 14 and Kirsten 11. Amelia, Sarah, Lauren, Geraldine and Emma all scored to boost the total. In reply Rocks hit 11 3-pointers.
2 games left, away to Polonia and Musketeers to try to secure a top 3 finish in the League.
Unfortunately, the Senior Women were beaten 38 - 59 by the Rocks. That win for the Rocks gives them the advantage in the league, with one less loss than either the Kats or Polonia.
