Junior Women fight for win against Polonia

A great day all round for the Club yesterday, with 5 wins out of 5, including a very close encounter with Polonia Phoenix:

The JW squad met with local rivals Polonia at Portobello on Saturday 11th Nov.

In a game which was a great advert for JW basketball, the girls came out on top by a single point, in front of a large, very appreciative crowd.

Down by 5 at the quarter and 8 at the half the girls put in a tremendous shift in the 2nd half and fought back to just edge it by scoring the last basket. Kirsten top scored with 19 followed by Kirsty with 14 and Hannah with 13. Nicolle popped in 7 on a day when every point was valuable. Amelia and Geraldine worked hard in both defence and offence and Sarah, Emma, Lauren and Holly gave solid backing to those on court.

Polonia had some nice players, but our never say die attitude got us over the line on the final buzzer.

It was certainly a step up in the team's performance from last week and we look forward to facing St Mirren next weekend.
