Busy weekend ahead with the first Super Saturday and bagpacking!

This weekend we have 5 games at Portobello with only the Senior Men on the road. The Men are headed to Troon on Saturday with every game vital for the men as they try to finish in the top 4 and qualify for the playoffs. The rest of the National League teams will be welcoming Tayside to Portobello on Saturday. First up are the Cadette Women who will be hoping to continue the form that saw them beat East Lothian Dragons last weekend and overturn the 3 point defeat they suffered at the hands of Tayside in December. The Junior Women will have a tough game as Tayside are going well this season with only one defeat so far. The Senior Women are having a fantastic season so far as they are undefeated in the league and have a cup final to look forward. The last time the teams met saw a comprehensive win for Kats. The Cadet Men also have a cup final to look forward to and should repeat their win over Tayside whilst the Junior Men in the last game of the day will be looking for the win to maintain their position as league leaders.

And if that wasn't enough excitement there will also be the January 300 Club draw, a win will certainly cheer up a cold and dismal January for someone!

There are no games on Sunday due to the national training and referee seminar. Good luck to all our players involved in the national sessions. Sunday also sees our first fundraising event of 2015, as we head to Sainsburys at Meadowbank for a bag packing day. Fundraising is a vital part of Club life unfortunately, as our fees do not cover the high costs involved in running a Club. Here are some examples of the costs we face this season:

  • National League, Lothian League, Regional Development Leagues, Scottish Cup and Chairmans Cup entry fees over £2500
  • Each home game costs over £100 in referee and table official costs
  • Each month we pay nearly £4000 in hall costs

So thank you to those of you who are giving up your time on Sunday, it is much appreciated as you are helping to keep the Club affordable for all by keeping the fees at a reasonable level and allowing us to offer financial help to those who need it. Also a big thanks to our Youth Leaders who have organised the bag packing and will be supervising on the day. Thanks also to Sainsburys for their continued support.
