The club had a good start to the new season with four successes out of six for our National League teams.
Both the Senior Men and Junior Men survived tough games against Boroughmuir, winning 75-68 and 68-59 respectively. The Cadet Men had a difficult afternoon going down 38-88 to a much stronger Boroughmuir side.
At Portobello the Senior Women also had a successful start to the season, winning 73-62 against Falkirk Fury. The Junior Women women followed suit, as Coach Findlay reports:
Junior Women start season with a WIN
The Junior Women began the new season with a good win against Fury at Portobello on Saturday.
With many of the team returning for their 2nd Junior Women season, there is an expectation that we will be more competitive this year.
12 of our complement of 17 Junior Women all got a good run in the game and ran out 69 - 21 winners.
It was good to be able to sub 5 for 5 throughout the game so everyone could contribute to the win.
Big points from Hannah - 23 and Shannon - 18 boosted the total, but a real team effort saw the girls win all 4 quarters with a bit to spare.
There will be closer games for the girls as the season goes on, but good to start with a win.
The Cadette women were not so fortunate, going down 44-61 to Fury after a great effort. You can read more about the weekend's games on our Facebook Page and in Sandy Sutherland's round-up in the Edinburgh Evening News.
