Play-off success for Cadets and Juniors

In a fantastic end to the season, both the Cadet Men and Junior Men squads returned from Grangemouth on Saturday with silverware to show for their efforts.

The Cadet Men proved too strong for Boroughmuir in a well deserved 51 - 44 victory. Despite Boroughmuir coming within 4 points in the final quarter the boys showed their resolve to come home with a seven point advantage. Top scorers were Dale on 12 (with some great 3-point shooting!) and Rian on 12, with Gregor on 10. Kieran topped the rebound table on 12, closely followed by Rian with a double-double on 11. What an amazing achievement for the squad and Coach Dickson, not only winners of the League, Cup and now Play-offs but to also remain undefeated over the whole season, some 21 games in all.

Later in the day, the Junior Men pulled off an astounding 61-60 last-gasp victory over Falkirk Fury. Despite being down by 17 points in the second quarter the team just wouldn't give up and came back to within 10 points at the end of the half and then 6 points at the end of the 3rd. More hard work saw them get within 4 with under two minutes left on the clock. A massive 3 from Neil took it to a single point and then a last second shot from Neil looked to have sealed the victory. There was more drama however as a Fury time-out gave them a last second opportunity which went wide and the win was confirmed.

Neil was top-scorer with 29 points with Matt and Andrew on 10 each. Matt was top with 14 rebounds followed by Neil on 10, both recording double-doubles. Click here for the full game statistics. What an exciting game to end the season!

Meanwhile the Senior Men progressed comfortably to the quarter final of the play-offs with a 79 - 44 win over Glasgow Storm at Portobello on Saturday. They will now meet Glasgow University in the next round. The Senior Women opened their play-off challenge on Sunday with a 59 - 53 first leg win over Polonia Phoenix. They will take a six point advantage into the home game a week on Saturday.
