East conquers West (almost)

It was almost a 100% success rate as Edinburgh took on the West last weekend.

The Senior Men made no mistake against Glasgow Storm on Saturday at Portobello, with a comfortable 87-32 win, to maintain their position at the top of league with only four games remaining. Top scorers were Edgars and Simon with 18 points apiece.

They were swiftly followed by the Junior Women in the only non-west fixture of the weekend against Tayside Musketeers, as Coach Findlay reports:

Junior Women topple Tayside

After losing to Polonia in a midweek encounter, the Junior Women fought hard to topple Tayside Musketeers at Portobello on Sat 11th Feb.

The midweek game had seen Nicole hit a season high 15 points, but with Hannah fouling out, Polonia proved too strong for the young Junior Women team.

On Saturday however with Kirsty living it up in Los Angeles, the Kats were a lillte understrength against Tayside. After a close first 3 quarters the girls found themselves 4 down going into the last quarter.

With Hannah top scoring on 22 points the girls came through to win by 4. Well done.

9 players hit the court in the first half, but a top performance from Sarah with good support from Kirsten and Amelia saw them maintain their performance right to the end.

Still things to work on, but more encouraging signs.

Meanwhile, in Maryhill, the Cadet and Junior Men were up against Glasgow Rens. The U16 team romped to an impressive 95-38 win, with Kieran top-scoring on 23. With Highland Bears losing at the weekend the Cadets are now two games clear at the top of the league with only two to play. The Juniors also won 75-55 and now lie joint third in the league, also with two games left to play.

On Sunday the Senior Women reversed their cup-final defeat to Glasgow Rocks with a great 60-48 win at St Maurice's High School, with Rowan top-scoring on 19 points. That win puts them in a strong postion at the top of the league, with only three games left to play. The Cadette Women also came close to upsetting the Rocks, going down by only 1 point in a 35-36 loss.
