The Kings senior men team kicked off the 2011-2012 seaon with an emphatic 87-52 win over The Knights at Portobello on Saturday.
The Knights promised much before the game, with new signings and ex-Buccaneers Rob Jansson and Grant Gibson adding to the Stirling-based squad. However, an impressive 31-5 first quarter performance by the Kings all but put paid to any doubt about the result.
The following quarters were much more closely contested with the Kings drawing the second 14-14 and taking the others 17-13 and 25-20.
Top scorers for the Kings were Mike Kirkpatrick on 16, Audrius Ciapas on 16, Edgars Rekis with 15 and Paddy Campbell with 14. While Simon Flockhart contributed 10 and Craig Reilly 8, with Lee Reilly adding 5 and Niall Mackle 3.
