End of season message

To all Club Members:

As a record season draws to a close, we wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone involved with the Club and to tell you about a few changes planned for next season.

Firstly as you know, we are saying goodbye to a few Club stalwarts in Trevor Lodge, Paul McBrierty and Stewart Gillies. The Club owes a huge debt to them all for their many years of outstanding service and it is thanks to them that we are in such good shape as a Club despite the challenging times. Their last official duties were carried out at the Club AGM where the new committee members were approved, these are:

Amy Morgan – Chair / Secretary
Clare Mackle – Membership Secretary
Elizabeth Ritchie – Treasurer
Liz Simpson – Equipment Manager

Alan Whyte will be taking over from Clare Mackle in the management of the Club website. As well as these changes, Brian Findlay and Simon Flockhart were re-elected in their current respective positions as Match Secretary and Fundraising Secretary.

As part of the handover process the two committees have been working closely together on plans for the season ahead as follows.

  1. Start of season and pre season training
The school will open again for training on Monday 15th August and the first fixtures will be mid-September. Brian is finalising the League fixtures and we will publish these on the website as soon as they are confirmed.
  2. Get Registered day
We will once again be holding a registration day where everyone is invited to come along and complete their registration documents. This allows the club to take advantage of the basketball scotland bulk registration process and simplifies the process for everyone. “Get Registered” will take place on Saturday 20th August this year, please keep an eye on the club website for more details of the format of the day. As this is very close to the start of training the membership pack will be issued electronically this year.
  3. Club fees next season
Unfortunately we are facing a steep rise in hall fees next season so it has been necessary to revamp our fee structure in order to offset some of these increased costs, hopefully you will agree that it still represents fantastic value for money and will understand that this is a step the Club took after much deliberation. All members have been informed by email of the new fees and more details will be issued in the membership pack that everyone will receive with their registration documents.
  4. Club polo shirts
Each year the Club give out a “freebie” that is branded with the Club logo, in the past it has been kit bags and hoodies, this year it will be a polo shirt. This will be given out at the “Get Registered” day to everyone who completes their Club registration. All players will be expected to wear the polos to games.

This year has also seen many of our players selected for national duty both with Scotland and with GB and we wish them luck in their games over the summer, we will keep you updated on the Club website. It only remains for us to wish you a fantastic summer and see you back at training in August. We look forward to working with the players, coaches, team managers and parents to make next season even better than this one!
