Danny Costello's report on the Senior Men's semi-final game - "The senior men went into this game with a degree of apprehension having had a tight game against the prolific 3 point scoring Glasgow University two weeks ago. In that game they were up by one point at half time having scored 7/8 three point shots on their way to a game high total of 11 three pointers. With a number of players missing the bench was weak but the team produced one of the best defensive performances for a number of seasons to give us a comfortable win in the end. All of the players made a tremendous contribution but Simon Flockhart's dominance on the boards was a significant factor.
Our own shooting wasn't the high percentage that we're used to and at the end of the first quarter we were ahead 16-9. The second quarter was slightly better and we moved futher ahead winning 19-15 but it was the third quarter that our pressure defence proved most effective allowing us to get into a running game and saw us win that phase 24-11. The game was effectively over by then but they continued to try to put up three point shots to reduce the deficit. Our players remained resolute in their defence and again rstricted them to 10 points in the final quarter and we ran out 72-45 winners.
I was very proud of the effort, application and discipline they exhibited throughout the game. We now face St Mirren the final after they beat Stirling Knights 80-73".
