Kings player takes part in Microsoft UK Challenge

From Gary Beyer - Senior Men :

The Microsoft UK Challenge is 4 day and night race across the mountains of Wales, trying to overcome the terrain and the 125 other teams competing. We’ll be running, kayaking and mountain biking whilst having to solve puzzles and crack codes at certain check points to avoid time penalties. The challenge organisers keep the distances, puzzles, terrain and the course a secret. However, we have been assured that on each day and night you can expect no less than to run, cycle or kayak somewhere between a half marathon and a marathon.

For all of you that doubt I’ll manage, coverage is provided by Channel 4 and Setanta so please tune in and see me make a fool of myself on a national scale! The charity we have chosen to sponsor during this event is Children 1st, who are a part of the NSPCC but cater for Scottish children. The money raised will go towards helping these children and their families deal with a variety of difficulties including, serious trauma, hardship and other difficulties caused by alcohol or drug abuse.

So far the training has been intense and as part of my sponsorship drive I will also be competing in the Edinburgh 10 kilometre run on 3rd May 2009 and doing a 24 hour cycle in Waverley Train Station on 21st/22nd May 2009.

Please, please help this charity and sponsor me now, no matter how little!!! Thanks
