All Hail The Kings: Edinburgh Claim Senior Men Scottish Cup

copied from www.basketballscotland.com

The City of Edinburgh Kings have held onto their throne for another year with an 82-57 win over St Mirren Reid Kerr College in the Scottish Cup Senior Men Final. The Kings had built themselves a comfortable cushion in the first half. When the teams walked in at half time Edinburgh was ahead 45-21. The Saints were not able to climb any closer than nineteen. That came on a lay up from Michael Lynn four minutes into the third quarter.
The Kings were just too much. They were more accurate from the floor shooting 43% for the game over St Mirren's 31%, and their defense was more active. Edinburgh recorded 16 steals on the game opposed to the Saints 8. From the very start the outcome was not in doubt.
The second half belonged to the Kings and Paul Cummins in particular. He scored 15 of his game high 24 points in the second. He was joined by three other Kings in double figures. Laurie Costello added 17, Simon Flockhart had 15 points along with 15 rebounds, and Garreth Lodge added 12.
St Mirren were led by Nic Collins with 16 points and Michael Lynn with 14.
